Obituary for Timothy "Jake" Rhyme

Timothy A. “Jake” Rhyme, 65, of West Salem, passed away November 23, 2024, at his home.

He was born May 20, 1959, in La Crosse to Donald and Beatrice (Gilbertson) Rhyme. Tim was baptized into Christ on June 14, 1959 at Christ Ev. Lutheran Church in Burr Oak and confirmed in Christ at Peace Ev. Lutheran Church in Cataract. He was a 1977 graduate of Black River Falls High School.

When Tim was 17 years old, his life was forever changed when he suffered a tragic car accident; he was hit head on by a drunk driver. Though he struggled with injury, recovery, and adapting to a new way of life, he did find great joy in many things. Tim enjoyed toy tractors, especially his 880 Oliver, farming, hunting, and fishing. He was involved in FFA and 4H and showed animals at the Jackson County Fair. Jake loved anything and everything Ford, carpentry, and building. Above all, he loved spending time with friends and family, telling stories, and playing Euchre.

Tim will be remembered as a man with a kind soul who always had a joke ready. If you asked him he would tell you that, “he never got in trouble because he never got caught.”

Survivors include his mother, Beatrice; two sisters, Donna (Carl) Lueck and Susan (Bobby) Hoffman; nephews and nieces, Brad (Elizabeth) Lueck, Jeremy Lueck, Ashley (Brian) Nelson, Joleen Hauser (Nick Reetz), and Charlene (Jordan) Zimmerman; great-nieces and great-nephews, Caitlynn, Carson, and Cameron Lueck, Jenna (Deven Nesseth), Hunter and Gunner Lueck, Lexus Nelson, Landen Cleveland, Kaylee Hauser, Eli Reetz, Aeryonna Reetz, and Ethan Reetz, Bentley Vian, Sawyer Zimmerman and Gage Zimmerman; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Donald; sister, Charlene; and great-niece, Hennessy.

A Christian Funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, November 30, 2024, at Christ Ev. Lutheran Church, N9113 State Hwy 108 in Burr Oak. Rev. Andrew Schultz will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m., until the time of service, Saturday, at the church.
