Obituary for Larry L. Engelhardt
Larry graduated from Crestwood High School in Cresco, Iowa. After graduation, he served in the Army Reserves and Army National Guard. While at basic training, he and some friends went on a road trip and ended up traveling through the small Missouri town of Ava, Missouri. It was there that he met his wife, Patsy.
After the marriage, Larry and Patsy settled down in Caledonia, Minnesota, where they raised their children, Gregory and Teresa. Larry worked for the telephone company for many years. He later attended Red Wing Technical College where he received training to become an over-the road truck driver. Throughout his career, he spent a great deal of time traveling, having been to every state in the country except for Hawaii.
Larry enjoyed telling stories, attending auctions, fishing and spending time with family. He is survived by his children: Gregory, and Teresa (Brent) Newburg, grandchildren: Cody (Naomi) Colsch and their children Carter and Caiden; Alex Engelhardt (Alyssa Johnson); and Justin and Evan Newburg; his siblings, Jeff (Kaye) Engelhardt and Cheryl Nagel; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Carolyn (Darrell) Hutchinson, Leslie Irby, Yvonne Willis, Debbie (Kenny) Clouse and Brenda (Jim Liniger); as well as nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Patsy; his parents, Harry and Sophia Engelhardt; his in-laws, Ross and Grace Irby; brothers-in-law, Richard Irby, Gary Nagel, Gary Hicks, Raymond Irby, Steven Willis, and Fred Hicks; sisters-in-law, Janice Bone and Chris Hicks, and nephews, Kendall Clouse and Brad Nagel.
