Obituary for Angela "Angie" Blades

Angie was born in Elgin IL on August 1, 1968, to Don and Jennie Blades. She moved with her family to Magnolia, Texas in the mid 80’s. Angie attended Magnolia High School, then moved again with her family to La Crosse. She enjoyed many jobs in her lifetime, from working with animals at an animal shelter, to working on the railroad. Her final job was working with the caring staff at the Olive Garden Restaurant.
Even at a young age Angie had a fondness for animals. Growing up, she was always surrounded by pets from cats and dogs to her horse, Andy. She was also known to rescue a critter or two. Being a kid at heart, Angie had a special way with children. Many of her little friends considered her their “best friend.” She enjoyed watching them learn and grow.
Even though she had many struggles, Angie always offered emotional support when times were hard. With an open mind and open heart, she tried to take her experiences from life and help others who she felt were struggling - never forgetting to send up a prayer for people she felt were in need.
She was honored to have a part in raising Trinidy for a few years. Angie loved her dearly.
Angie will be deeply missed and remembered for her big heart, wonderful smile, her contagious laugh, and her willingness to break out in song anywhere and anytime she was content.
Angie is survived by her grandmother, “Grams,” Dolores Schinleber; her sisters, Stacey (Matthew) Kammel and Judy (Rory Skifton) Wellnitz; fiancé, Dave Smith Jr.; niece, Kayla Wellnitz; nephews, Richard and Brandon Blair; aunt and uncle, Jeannie and Jeff Nylander; nine step-children; 32 step-grandchildren; many cousins; and her three legged cat friend, Molly.
Angie is preceded in death by her mother and father, Jennie and Don Blades, grandmother “Meemaw” Maxine Kouba and grandfather “Pawpaw” Ronald Kouba.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at Fredrickson Funeral Home, Woodruff Chapel, 4239 Mormon Coulee Rd., La Crosse. Times will be announced when finalized.
