
Obituary for Elizabeth "Betty" Dayton

Betty was born January 1, 1930 to Andrew and Mary (Fearn) Barron in County Antrim, Northern Ireland.
She emigrated to America in December 1950, arriving in New York after a six day voyage on the Queen Elizabeth and was welcomed to the US through Ellis Island where her name is proudly displayed on the Wall of Honor, then joined her sister Olivia and brother-in-law Louis in La Crosse.
Betty married John (Jack) Dayton in 1954, and they were blessed with three sons: Ralph, Steven, and Andrew.
Betty worked at the Garment Company and at Jack Winter in the cutting room, retiring in 1985.
Betty is survived by her three sons, Ralph (Patty), Andrew, and Steven (Lisa), and by six grandsons, one granddaughter, ten great grandchildren and one great-great grandson. She is further survived by one sister Avril (Jim), sister-in-law Ella, and numerous nieces and nephews in the US, Northern Ireland, England, and Scotland.
She was preceded in death by her husband Jack, her brothers Sam, Fergus, and Drew, and her sisters Olivia and Renee.
Betty loved to play cards, go to casinos, rummage sales, going on long walks, music in the park, growing beautiful flowers in her garden, and good friends and neighbors.
Betty’s family wants to thank Benedictine Living Community, Saint Croix Hospice, and the physicians and staff at Gundersen Medical Center for the excellent care and friendship that helped make her life a long and happy one.
Services will be scheduled at a later date.
