Obituary for Gregory "Greg" Manske

Gregory J. Manske passed away peacefully doing what he loved most, farming. He was born September 9, 1962, to the already full house of Irvin and Jessie K. Manske-King. He was welcomed home by his seven siblings. It wasn’t easy being the youngest of this bunch and he would often ask why there couldn’t be a ninth.

He attended Mel-Min Elementary and high school and graduated in 1981. He played football, baseball and wrestled. He attended UW-La Crosse where he was “King of the Popcorn Tavern.” He also attended Umpire School in Florida with hopes of becoming a Pro Baseball Umpire.

He worked for a time as the Maintenance person for the Town of Farmington and he drove semi for a while but eventually returned to his first love, farming. He began his farming career in Irving Township. It was then that he married Lisa Dolesy and welcomed her and her two daughters Jennifer and Nicole to the farm. They moved to Greg’s current farm in North Bend. He and Lisa divorced but Greg remained a vital part of the girls' lives.

Greg is survived by his daughters, Jennifer (Ross) Laubach and their children Owen, Eli and Emersyn. Nicole (Tod Dunlavy) and her children, Nathanial and Annaliese. Siblings, Beth (Jeff) Kline, New Boston, MI. Katie (Mark Matushka) Manske, Melrose, WI. Randy (Judy) Manske, Melrose, WI. Peggy Stewart, Melrose, WI. And several nieces and nephews and his “adopted” family Spencer and Lorna Timm, Debbie, Audrey and Dale.

He is preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Bill, Bob (Heavy) and Art. Celebration of Life is at Mindoro Lions Shelter on July 3, 2025, from 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., following a private service and burial. This is fitting because Greg always thought they had Spanferkel in honor of his birthday.

Everyone knows Greg wasn’t big on dressing up! Bibs were his daily attire so feel free to wear them if you have them.
