Obituary for Thomas "Tom" O'Heron

After graduating, Tom trained as a machinist and began his career at Trane Company. His work as a union representative led to a career as an arbitrator with the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers. A dedicated union man, Tom spent his life advocating for workers’ rights, helping groups organize, and ensuring working people’s voices were heard.
Tom loved family, sports, and community. A lifelong baseball fan, he spent countless seasons coaching his sons and later coached girls’ high school basketball, which kept him young. He also enjoyed golfing, watching games, and supporting his granddaughters in their activities. Known for his easy conversation and warm smile, Tom valued his Catholic faith, serving as a Grand Knight in the Knights of Columbus and singing in the church choir for many years.
Tom is survived by his wife, Sandi; sons, Tobias (TJ) and Ezra (Amanda); granddaughters, Marlayna and Myra; siblings James O’Heron, Sue Priester, Patricia Downs, Nancy (Ron) Christopherson, JoAnne Galvin, Jane (Rick) Kjos, Kate Gardner, and Kristin O’Heron; brother-in-law, Tim (Joyce) Schaller; sister-in-law, Kristi (Dan) Elliott; and many nieces, nephews, extended family, friends, former players, and colleagues.
