Obituary for Cynthia Rae “Cindy” Vieth

Cynthia Rae "Cindy" Vieth, 70, of La Crosse, passed away Friday, October 31, 2025 at her residence at Eagle Crest South in La Crosse. She was born December 15, 1954, in Sparta, Wisconsin, a true Christmas gift from God, to Raymond and Arline (Schindler) Vieth. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, in Wilton, Wisconsin. Cindy grew up on a farm and was active in 4-H. She attended many state fairs where she enjoyed showing her prize cows. In 1973, Cindy graduated from Brookwood High School. She then attended Viterbo University where she graduated in 1977 with a B.S. Degree in Nursing. Cindy was employed as a nurse at Gundersen Health System for 40 years until her retirement. Cindy was also on the Board of Directors of the La Crosse Boy's Choir, and traveled as their health provider on many trips throughout the United States, Austria, and Germany. Cindy was a good cook and very much enjoyed entertaining friends. Cindy was accomplished in quilting and needlework and was a member of the Coulee Country EGA. To her, needlework and quilting were more than hobbies—they were a philosophy. Every stitch was a reminder that every day counts, and with enough care, patience, and love, life becomes a beautiful quilt of cherished moments. Most of all, Cindy enjoyed living life and she will be sadly missed by her family and many friends.

She is survived by her sister, Cheryl Vieth of La Crosse. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant brother, John.

A memorial service will be at 11:00am, Friday, November 7, 2025 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church, 612 Division Street, La Crosse, Wisconsin. Pastor Joanne Richmond will officiate. A private burial will be at St. Paul's Lutheran Church Cemetery in Wilton, Wisconsin at a later date. A visitation will be from 9:30am until the time of service at the church.

In lieu of flowers and plants, memorials are preferred to the Gundersen Medical Foundation, La Crosse Area Foundation, or to the donor's choice. Fredrickson Funeral Homes and Crematory are in charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be offered at www.fredricksonfuneralhomes.com.
