Obituary for Pauline Pfaff

Pauline was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on July 19, 1945, to Conrad Anthony and Olive Catherine Burback.

Pauline graduated from Central High School in 1963. She then went on to obtain her LPN degree in 1965 in Boston, Massachusetts. Pauline moved back to La Crosse and met David Pfaff shortly after.

Pauline and David were married on March 5, 1966. Pauline’s love for her husband David and her children, Gregory and Lori Ann, and her home were the driving forces in her life.

Pauline loved flowers and spending time outside in her garden. Pauline also had a deep affection for curling up with a good book as well as cleaning the house. Holidays and celebrations were enjoyed by Pauline as she prepared for these events at her home.

Pauline is survived by her husband, David; son Gregory (Laura) Pfaff; daughter Lori (Chris) Lofald; grandchildren Paige, Annamarie (Kitt Pellegrini) and Claire Lofald, Sophia and Scarlett Pfaff; sisters Rita Sequiera and Debbie (Danny) Schroeder; brothers Stanley Walters Jr. and David Walters. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Teri Walters.

Pauline will be missed by many who knew her as a kind, sweet and--most of all--caring person who was always ready to help.

Pauline spent the last year of her life at Bethany St. Joseph Care Center. Her family will always be grateful for the excellent love and care that she received there. The highlights of her stay were visits with animals, from therapy dogs to kangaroos, as they always brought a smile to her face. In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family would appreciate Pauline’s memory be honored by donations to Tabby Town USA in Westby, WI, as the kitten visits were a favorite.

There are not enough words to thank Gundersen Hospice for all of the excellent care Pauline received over the last year. They truly are angels on earth. God bless you, Pauline. We will miss you every day.
