Obituary for Alvin C. Oesterle

Alvin C. Oesterle, 80, of Rockland, passed away unexpectedly on February 22, 2026, at Emplify by Gundersen Health System, La Crosse. He was born on December 7, 1945, to Alvin and Nellie (Vraa) Oesterle.
Alvin served in the Marine Corps for four years, two of which were spent in Vietnam. He married Dorothy Wenig on April 4, 1971. Alvin worked at the Farmer’s Creamery and Webster Lumber Company, both in Bangor, WI.
Alvin’s pride and joy were his four grandchildren. He enjoyed watching them grow up and going to their sports events. His favorite hobby was collecting toy tractors, especially John Deere. He took pride in the huge garden he had every summer and shared his bounty with the food pantry.
Alvin is survived by his wife, Dorothy; his son Steve (Nikki) of Bangor, daughter Sheila (Doug) Cavadini of Sparta; grandchildren Courtney Oesterle (fiancé Dylan Sprain), Mathieu Oesterle (Madelyn England), Kiera Cavadini, and Easton Cavadini; brothers LaVern (Bobbie) of La Crescent, and Harold (Lori) of Sparta; sisters Alys Oesterle of Sparta, and Linda Dow of Bangor. Sisters and brothers-in-law Ginny Oesterle, Sandra Oesterle, Kay Wenig, Duane Wenig and Barbara Boyle; nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors.
In addition to his parents, Alvin was preceded in death by his father and mother-in-law Franklin and Erma Wenig; sisters, brothers and in-laws Lorraine & Valery Thillen, Robert Oesterle, Kenny Oesterle, Louise and Norman Renk, Helen and Vernon Lund, Wayne Oesterle, Joel Dow, Romaine & Sandra Wenig, Roland Wenig, Lela Wenig and Charles Boyle.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, March 8, 2026, at Bangor First Presbyterian Church. Rev. Francis Hewuse, II will officiate. A visitation will be held from 12 noon until the time of service at the church. Following the service military honors will be rendered by the Anderson-Good American Legion Post 40 of Bangor and the United States Marine Corps Funeral Honor Guard.
