Obituary for Virginia Lohman

Virginia L. Lohman, 99, of La Crosse passed away Tuesday, June 16, 2026 at her home in Eagle Crest South.

Virginia was born on September 24,1926 in Newton, Iowa., to Sherman and Avo (Worth) Oldham. She graduated in 1944 from Grinnell High School, Grinnell, Iowa. She then attended the University of Iowa in Iowa City. After leaving the University of Iowa, Virginia worked in various secretarial jobs in the Des Moines, Iowa area. Virginia married Harry Lohman on June 27, 1952 in Des Moines, Iowa, and he preceded her in death on September 19, 2013. Virginia spent most of her time as a homemaker raising her family but she also had a fun, adventurous side. In the late 1960s, she received her private pilot’s license. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in La Crosse where she served as a Deaconess and also as head of the social committee for several years.

Virginia is survived by her daughter, Sandra Lohman of San Jose, CA; sons, David (Gail) of Prescott, AZ, and, Robert of Omaha, NE; and grandson Andre Lohman of Richmond, VA.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 18, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., at Fredrickson Funeral Homes and Crematory, 4239 Mormon Coulee Road, La Crosse, WI. A private family service will be held at the Garden Mausoleum at Oak Grove Cemetery.

The family would like to thank the staff at Eagle Crest South for their compassion and kindness. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Emplify Hospice by Gundersen Health.
