Obituary for David M. "Dave" Ehlers

He was born November 29, 1956, in Caledonia, MN., to Milton and Ruby (Meyer) Ehlers, however Dave was raised in Eitzen, MN. Dave graduated from Caledonia High School. On June 9, 1990, he married Margaret “Peggy” Jesmer. Dave worked for many years for Mike’s Meats in Eitzen, MN. He also worked for Quillins IGA in Caledonia. Dave was the happiest working in his many gardens. He also loved to hunt and fish, always looking for mushrooms, walnuts, and hickory nuts. The love of Dave’s life was his grandchildren. Peggy and Dave also sponsored four foreign exchange students, David and Viktor from Czech Republic, Arko Zarif from Bangladesh, and Ta Bea from Germany.

Survivors include his wife, Peggy of Caledonia; children, Jamie (Chris) Schansberg of Caledonia and Joseph (Ann Marie) Ehlers of Aurora, MN; grandchildren, Weston Schansberg and Brook and Wren Ehlers; sister, Joanne of Oregon; and brother, Ronald and his friend, Karen of Eitzen, MN.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents; step-father, Mike Roble; sister, Aloris and her husband, Bob; brother, Marvin; brother-in-law, Mike; and two grandchildren, baby S and baby CJ.

There will be a Celebration of Life from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m., on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at Four Seasons Community Center in Caledonia.
