Obituary for Mark S. Zwiefel
Mark Steven Zwiefel, 67, lost his battle with cancer while surrounded by family at Mayo Hospital in La Crosse, WI on Wednesday July 8th.
Mark was born on September 20, 1958, to Elwin and Alice (Downing) Zwiefel in Tomah, WI. He grew up in Angelo and attended Sparta High School. Mark enjoyed bowling throughout the years, it is how he met Rose, whom he married on April 24th, 1982. They welcomed their first daughter Elizabeth, on Christmas of 1985, and their second daughter, Rachel, in February of 1991. Mark worked on the railroad and then went on to work many years for All American Lumber. Mark enjoyed many hobbies including hunting, camping with his family, listening to Wisconsin sports on the radio, and playing cards with his siblings. He also loved to grill, cook over the fire and make his own special recipe salsa and jalapeno poppers that were always requested at family events. Most of all, he enjoyed fishing with his brothers, son-in- law Brett, and daughters. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandkids, giving each of them their own special nicknames: Killian (Sidekick), Stella (My Little Angel), and Asher (Buckaroo).
He is survived by his wife, daughters, son-in-law, grandkids, siblings Danny (Kris), Larry (Lana), Laurice (Bill) and Tony (Kim); brother- in-laws Dan Hutchinson and Dan Huizenga; and many nieces and nephews.
Mark was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Delores Hutchinson and Patti Huizenga; nephew Scott Lanrehr; and beloved dog Gizmo.
Fredrickson Funeral Home, Bangor, is assisting the family with arrangements. A private grave side service, according to Mark’s request, will be held with a celebration of life at a later date.
