Obituary for Denise Stinson

Denise was born on August 27, 1966, in La Crosse, Wisconsin, to Richard Robert "Dick" and Donna Mae (Shisler) Stinson. She grew up in La Crosse and graduated from La Crosse Central High School with the Class of 1985.

After high school, Denise attended Western Wisconsin Technical College, where she earned her degree in accounting. Throughout her career, she worked as an inventory auditor, prepared taxes, and eventually found her calling as a private caregiver, caring for many residents throughout the Tri-State area.

Denise was happiest when she was doing the things she loved. She spent her time traveling, watching baseball and football games. She was always a fan of the hometown teams and a proud season ticket holder for the La Crosse Loggers. Denise especially loved the Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Bucks. She enjoyed playing in euchre tournaments throughout the Tri-State area, attending Friday night fish fry dinners, and spending time at Moontunes.

Above all, Denise treasured her family, especially her grandparents Harry and Ida Shisler, and her nieces and nephews who spent many days adventuring with her throughout their lives. She loved taking them to the zoo, baseball games, and movies, as well as simply spending time together playing board games and working on puzzles. The memories she created with them will be cherished forever.

Denise is survived by her sisters, Dixie Goede of La Crescent, Minnesota; Dawn Herold of La Crosse, Wisconsin; Darlene Stinson of Viola, Wisconsin; Deb (Gary) Horstman of Holmen, Wisconsin; twin sister Doreen (Dave) Kuschel of La Crosse, Wisconsin; and brother, Doug (Becky) Stinson of Westby, Wisconsin. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews, Brian, David, Jason, Robert, Richard, Shirley, Cheryl, Robbie, Mike, Gabby, Luke, Josh, and Callie.

She was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents; parents Dick and Donna Stinson; sister Diane Wagner; brothers-in-law Ralph Goede and Dane Herold; and niece Christine Stinson.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the Oncology and Hospice Departments at Emplify, Dr. Paul Letendre and his team, and the staff at Riverside Transitional Care for the compassionate care they provided to Denise.

A private burial will be held for immediate family at a later date.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, September 13, from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Dash Center (formerly the Onalaska Community Center), 515 Quincy Street, Onalaska, Wisconsin. The gathering will be a time for lunch, fellowship, and sharing memories of Denise. In her spirit and love of sports, guests are encouraged to wear their favorite football or baseball team jersey.
