Obituary for Robert Craig
Robert A. “Rob”, “Bert” Craig, 40, of West Salem, WI, passed away on September 1, 2026, following an accident at his home.
A celebration of life will take place at Fox Hollow Event Center located at W4131 Cty Rd O, La Crosse, WI 54601 on September 13, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM, with time for family, friends, and loved ones to share stories and memories starting at 3:00 PM.
Robert was born on October 16, 1985 in Freeport, IL. Throughout his teenage years he excelled as an athlete, especially in wrestling, a sport that he truly loved and dedicated many years to. He also loved history, fishing, and skateboarding. He graduated from Mount Carroll High School in Mount Carroll, IL in 2004.
Robert was filled with love - for his family, for his friends, and even for strangers. He accepted everyone for where they were in life and for who they were, and never once judged them for it. He was the first in line to offer a helping hand, the best bear hug that seemed to put the pieces back together when you felt like you were falling apart, and anything else that you needed. He was never afraid to stand up for those he loved. Even on his darkest of days, he would put everything aside to care for his loved ones.
Robert was also a big goofball with the greatest sense of humor and an uncanny ability to make everyone around him laugh, even if it was at his own expense. He always wanted to bring others joy. You couldn’t help but laugh when you were with Robert, and no matter what mood you were in when you came into contact with him on any given day, it was pretty much a guarantee you were going to leave feeling lighter.
He was a hardworking man, and a proud business owner, building and remodeling homes and other construction work that truly reflected his strong work ethic and exceptional attention to detail. He had a knack for creating, constructing, and problem-solving. Taking things that were once broken and restoring them, no matter what the object was, brought him great joy. He took pride in his work and providing for his daughters, always working to build the best life for them that he possibly could.
If you knew nothing else about Robert, the one thing you knew was his endless, unconditional love for his daughters, Aubriana and Rivian. That was clear for anyone to see. They were the light of his life, the sparkle in his bright green eyes, and his reason for being. He was so proud of them and celebrated their every victory, and was there to comfort them through all of their sorrows. Everything he ever did was for them, and they inspired him and motivated him every second of every day. He would do absolutely anything for his girls, and he missed them every moment he was not with them. If you ever wanted to see Robert light up his brightest, you asked him about his daughters. His memory and spirit will live on through Aubriana and Rivian.
Robert is survived by his daughters, Aubriana Craig and Rivian Condoleo; his mother, Cindy Schock; his father, Wayne Schock; his father, Robert Miller; his brothers, David Craig and Benjamin (Sharee) Schock; and his sisters, Jennifer Barney and Riley (Caleb) Bruemmer.
He is preceded in death by his grandmothers, Carol Craig and Bernice Schock; his grandfathers, Allen Craig and Allen Schock; and his aunt, Becky Holz.
Robert was loved by so many people - it was nearly impossible not to love him. He will be deeply missed, and this physical world will truly never be the same without him.
