Obituary for Amy Smith

Amy was born on July 26, 1955 in Janesville, WI to Charles and Lauris Anderson. She grew up in the Ontario WI area and graduated in 1973 from Brookwood High School. Amy married Ted Tetzlaff on August 7, 1998.

Amy had several occupations from legal secretary to bank executive before pursuing her law degree at University of Minnesota School of Law. After graduation Amy worked at Abt Law Firm. She later opened her own law firm, Amy Smith Law which focused on family law. She retired in 2023.

Amy had many hobbies including collecting antiques, books, cookbooks, and cooking without following a recipe! She enjoyed knitting, especially items for family members. She owned several homes and rustic cabins, which she enjoyed retreating to for relaxation and shared with others thru VRBO. She was very proud of her Victorian home.

Amy is survived by her husband, Ted; her sister Renae (Tony) Stekel; sister-in-law Kathy Anderson; nephews, Joseph (Elise) Anderson and Clark (Jordan) Anderson; niece, Heidi Anderson; great-nieces and nephews, Rudy, Ben, Sidney, Charlie; and many relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, Steve Anderson.

There will be a Celebration of Life for Amy on Thursday, October 1, 2026 from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Fredrickson Funeral Homes, 4239 Mormon Coulee Road, La Crosse, WI.
