Obituary for Anne Lawlor
Anne Marie (Gibbs) Lawlor, 72, of La Crescent, MN, passed away on October 20, 2026 peacefully at her home.
Anne was born on April 16, 1954, to Robert and Norma Gibbs in Dubuque, Iowa. She was the youngest of the family and the only girl, holding a special place among her brothers. She graduated from Wahlert High School and continued her education at the University of Northern Iowa, where she earned her teaching degree. Anne was a passionate and dedicated educator for 34 years with Winona Public Schools, teaching fourth and fifth grades at Dakota Elementary School and later fifth grade at Winona Middle School. It was at UNI where Anne met the love of her life, Tim Lawlor.
Tim and Anne were married on June 28, 1980, at Nativity Catholic Church in Dubuque, Iowa. Together, they welcomed three children: Corey (Jenna) Lawlor, Kathryn (Jason) Jeseritz, and Meghan (Seth) Lawlor. She is survived by her husband, children, and grandchildren, Blake, Nora, Nessa, Addison, and Emma. She is also survived by her brothers, Bill (Patti), Jim, and Tom Gibbs; Tim’s siblings, Chris and Mike White, and Karan Lawlor and many great friends.
Anne was preceded in death by her parents, Bob and Norma Gibbs; Tim’s parents, Bob and Joyce Lawlor; and Scott Lawlor and Becky Lawlor.
Anne was as beautiful on the inside as she was on the outside. She carried herself with class and grace, but also knew how to have fun. She loved boating on the Mississippi River, reading, and enjoying the warm summer air. Some of our favorite memories with Anne were made vacationing with family, especially in Florida or on a cruise. Above all, Anne loved her family and the time they spent together.
Anne will be forever loved and missed. We’ll think of her on sunny summer days, out on the Mississippi River, or whenever a Jimmy Buffett song comes on.
A celebration of life will be held in the Spring.
